HISTORY OF SWANA

SWANA was originally founded in 1962. The South Carolina Chapter received its charter at the 1990 Annual Business Meeting on August 23, 1990 in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.

The SC Chapter now has over 250 members! The membership is a diverse group of public and private sector professionals in the solid waste industry. The Chapter is focused on providing training and annually presenting conferences to support professionals in all aspects of solid waste including waste collection, disposal, gas collection, permitting, design, and operations. We hope you will join us at one of our upcoming events.

SAFETY

Congratulations to the City of Myrtle Beach for being our 2025 Safety Day Winner! Below is a photo of Board Members Ed Marr and Debbie Langley presenting a $500 gift certificate to the City of Myrtle Beach. The City plans to use their winnings to host a nice picnic/grilled lunch for the whole gang in their department who have worked so hard this year. Congrats and thank you for making our industry safer
